OVERVIEW

Sabre is joining the Travalyst coalition, a group founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, with the aim of mainstreaming sustainability information to help people make better travel choices. Mastercard has also just signed with Travalyst, and we are announcing jointly with them via a press release on February 29.

KEY MESSAGES

Timeline

  • On Thursday February 29, Sabre will officially announce that it has joined the Travalyst coalition. Sabre will be collaborating with and joining ten other  brands in travel (Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Mastercard, Skyscanner, Travelport, Trip.com Group, Tripadvisor and Visa) to help drive more sustainable travel.

What’s different about this group?

  • Travalyst is a pre-competitive independent body which facilitates collaboration between partners on sustainability objectives strictly on a non-commercial basis. It is not a broad membership organization; it is comprised of eleven of the largest companies in travel, which work together to make tangible changes that will lead to a more sustainable travel industry.

What does it do?

  • Together with its partners, Travalyst is developing a framework of shared principles and methodology for reporting sustainability, focusing initially on transport and accommodation.

  • The Travel Impact Model, which Sabre has recently implemented to display carbon emissions information in Sabre Red 360 and GetThere, is the model developed from the Travalyst aviation methodology.

How will Sabre contribute to Travalyst?

  • Sabre representatives from the sustainability, policy, communications and product teams will take an active role in collaborating on the Travalyst framework and initiatives. Sabre’s global reach and extensive network will enable Travalyst to further scale its work and contribute to a more sustainable travel industry. Sabre joining Travalyst completes the circle, with our peers already in the coalition.

Sabre in the news

  • Due to the high-profile nature of the group and its founder, customers and partners may see and hear the news that Sabre has joined the coalition.

What does this mean for Sabre customers?

  • Customers can feel assured knowing that Sabre will be working towards making sustainability information transparent to travelers. With access to shared tools, resources and partnerships, Sabre will be able to display even more information via our point-of-sale tools in the future. Customers can also feel confident knowing the high importance Sabre places on sustainability.
